While we’re new to Marco Lehmbeck’s work, we at Flash Punk were immediate fans of the Berlin photographer’s dreamy pastels and swashbuckling sense of adventure.

Marco and I started speaking some weeks ago about about this photo series featuring his fellow Berliner Summer, but—sign of the times—our plans were waylaid when, while on holiday in Belarus, the photographer was caught in the recent political upheaval. I’m happy to report that Marco is safe and back in Berlin, making film emulsion sing once again, and we’re beyond thrilled to finally feature this set of his recent work. From Marco:

“There is this abandoned water park in Berlin that I saw in the Insta-story of a friend and thought would be a perfect spot for a shoot with Summer, who I recently met. She liked the idea, and so we spent an afternoon there, climbing old water slide towers, discovering graffiti walls and chilling between old swimming pool ruins. I took a few analog cameras with me: Contax, Canon, Olympus and Nimslo. But mostly I wanted to test the medium format Fuji G645 Pro.”

“The place is a well known spot where local teens hang out, drink, and smoke weed. At a certain point, a group of young boys started watching us, asking if we were YouTubers. They had never seen a Polaroid SX70 before, so I took a portrait of them. The result blew their mind.”
