I Like the Way You Dance

Philadelphia based photographer Jesse Todd has a vision, and we’re thrilled to feature this collaboration between Jesse and the masterful stylist and model Kiera Thompson.
I’ve been lucky enough to follow Jesse’s feed for a little while now, and his posts always hit right in the feels, rolling like a mix of reverb-saturated beats. The world he walks is a place out of time, rich with neon signs, weathered murals, and box letters heralding closures and vacant spaces. It’s a lived-in world—in some places worn thin—but well loved. This recent shoot is a perfect example of Jesse’s blend of artful portraiture and a street-level view of his beloved Philly.
“I always keep an eye out for vintage cars to shoot,” Jesse says. “I struck gold when I came across this block in North Philadelphia that had several. I kept the location in the back of my mind for about a year but needed to find the right model to complement the location. When I came across Kiera’s 1970s inspired work, I knew she would be perfect for this shoot. I reached out to her to pitch the idea and was thrilled when she was just as excited about the concept as I was.”
Photographed on Polaroid 600 film and Fuji Superia 35mm film.
