A Walk in the Park

This was one of my first shoots after Massachusetts reopened from its strict shutdown—and my first time shooting with Olivia Carey. In early August we went down to the park during sunset to capture some warm-toned portraits as families picnicked and kids cast their fishing lines in the Charles River.

It had been months since I’d done a portrait session, and stepping back out into the world felt surreal, as though we had emerged from a bubble. My senses were overwhelmed with the simple sounds of the birds, the bugs, the river running, and people talking. Olivia and I both wore masks between locations and maintained a 6-foot distance during the shoot.

As an extrovert and someone who loves to create collaboratively, I found it exhilarating to be outside again and moving, talking, and feeling the sun on my shoulders as we worked.
