The words “Daring” and “vibrant” come to mind when I think about Constance Mégard Giacomoni’s photography. The French photographer’s emerging style is bright, clean, and descriptive, and we’re taken by her deft sense for composition, street photographer’s eye for exceptional detail, and humorous twists.

There’s something of a conceptual stunt-jump in her recent shoot, and we could not be more here for it. We’re thrilled to welcome Constance Mégard Giacomoni to Flash Punk with this new series, Paris–Dakar, which pays homage to the legendary rally raid in high-flying form.

From the Artist

I have been practicing photography since I was 17 years old. I started it as a hobby. I liked to take pictures and keep a memory of beautiful things I saw at that time. It could be a beautiful car or just my friends at the party afternoon pool under the sun.

Now I’m a freelance photographer based in Paris and my pictures are mostly about fashion and vintage cars, the two subjects that inspire me the most.

To me, photography is more than a job. It’s a real passion that is present in my daily life. I like discovering new places, meeting new people and sharing with another person my vision and discussing all the different points of view.

More than photography itself, I like to create and to push my boundaries everyday. I have become more interested in participating in every step of the shoot, from picking the model, to the photography (of course), to the styling, and so on. In this way, I started a fashion brand with my girlfriend. It’s called Deluxe Project, and it’s mostly about reworked second-hand pieces that we’ve transformed into completely unique new garments.

The photographers who inspire me the most are Purienne, Bilal Elkadhi, Osma Harvilahti and Delaney Allen, because their works are mainly focused on the body, the natural light, close up details and vintage cars.

What I like most about photography is the details, because every little parameter has the power to change the whole picture. I need to pay attention to the styling details, to the hair position, and the light. A simple shadow can ruin the portrait and as I prefer to shoot outside with natural light and work with shadows and colors, it is harder to make sure everything is perfect, but often I have great surprises.

But I also do love the process of creating the shoot, making a mood board to share my vision to the models and help them get into their characters, work with colors, imagining the best styles to evoke emotions that match what I’m feeling.

The idea of the dirt bikes came from my attraction to vintage cars and motorbikes. I wanted to mix-up the urban style by placing my models with a motorbike in an unusual sandpit setting.

My inspirations were travel, urban style, and high fashion as well as a small wink to the group Daft Punk, who just revealed their separation.
